Find out if this requirement applies to you and how to apply.

An Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is required for anyone coming to the UK for short-term study, who does not need to apply for a visa before travelling.

You will not need an ETA if you have:

  • a British or Irish passport
  • permission to live, work or study in the UK
  • a visa to enter the UK
  • Irish residency and don’t need a visa to visit the UK entering via Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man.

Check the UK government’s website for the latest guidance on who can get an electronic travel authorisation and how to apply.
