Interdisciplinary Encounters words encircling outline of 3 people

We’re delighted to launch a new series of interdisciplinary events, Interdisciplinary Encounters.  The idea behind the series is to bring together those interested in interdisciplinary teaching, learning and scholarship to connect and discuss practices, ideas, and research.

The first event took place on Thursday 18th April 2024 entitled ‘Challenge-led Assessment’ where Dr Margaret Leighton (Economics), Dr Brendan Whitty (Management) and Dr Miguel Barbosa (Biology) shared examples of cross-disciplinary assessments they’ve designed and then we had an open discussion at the end exploring how to best support students working across disciplines and effectively assess cross-disciplinary collaboration and learning.

We then held an event on Creating Collaborative Infrastructures for Interdisciplinary Higher Education: Potentials, Possibilities, and Pitfalls with Dr Katrine Ellemose Lindvig, University of Copenhagen  which took place on Tuesday 18 June 2024.

In 24/25, we’ll host further sessions including one on creative and reflexive approaches to interdisciplinary assessment.
