I am both a mentor and reviewer for staff on the STARS (St Andrews Recognition Scheme) Advance HE accredited scheme.

Research areas

I am an Associate Lecturer in Spatial Data Science. 

My main research interests span:

  • understanding urban housing markets using online housing searches
  • spatial accessibility 
  • interpreting mental maps
  • urban inequalities and developing deprivation indices
  • data visualisation and storytelling
  • exploring urban design and planning using virtual reality.

I am currently a co-researcher in the CEE-VR project: HEIF Higher Education innovation funding Community Engagement with Virtual & Augmented Reality: Shirebrook market redevelopment project to engage in participatory design of community spaces with immersive visualisation. 

I am a member of the Bell-Edwards Geographic Data Institute

I am an Associate Editor for the Housing & Society Journal

I am a co-opted Board Member for the Housing Studies Association.

Prior to joining the SGSD, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Geosciences and Geography at the University of Helsinki, Finland, in the YLLI- project. I obtained my PhD in Urban Studies and Planning in the USP department at the University of Sheffield.
