A masterclass with the doctoral cohort, a seminar on transnational approaches to Asia's film cultures, and on nationalism versus postcommunist cinema in Eastern Europe were the public events that Prof Iordanova delivered at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, where she was guest of Prof Koichi Iwabuchi and Dr Deane Williams.

She also had the opportunity to engage with colleagues Olivia Khoo, Constantine Verevis, Adrian Danks, Julia Vassileva, Zala Volcic, and a number of doctoral candidates. During this visit she explored aspects of film culture in the city, such as Melbourne Cinematheque, Palace Cinemas, several local festivals (Palestinian, British, Japanese and Russian), ACMI, The Capitol/RMIT, The Astor, The Forum, and open air initiatives.
