Professor Cowan curating film series at the Giornate del Cinema Muto

For the 2019 Giornate del Cinema Muto, Professor Cowan is curating, in collaboration with Professor Anton Kaes (UC-Berkeley), a film series entitled Weimar Shorts.

The series—featuring rare prints from the Bundesarchiv, the Deutsches Filmninstitut, the Deutsche Kinemathek, and the Filmarchiv Austria—showcases the great variety of short-film filmmaking that existed alongside canonical Weimar classics: from advertising to science, from activist documentary to experimental film, and from artists' portraits to Dadaistic vignettes.

The film series runs from 5th to 13th October 2019.
