Silent cinema interviews

11 December 2025

On 14th November, Dr Patrick Adamson was interviewed about his new book Projecting America: The Epic Western and National Mythmaking in 1920s Hollywood (Oklahoma, 2025) by Dr Paul McEwan (author of Cinema's Original Sin: D.W. Griffith, American Racism, and the Rise of Film Culture) for the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.

This was followed by an interview with John Fea (Distinguished Professor of History, Messiah College) for "The Author's Corner" of his website, The Way of Improvement Leads Home.

His book was also featured at The Campaign for the American Reader, where he was invited to take the Ford Madox Ford–inspired "Page 99 Test", by reflecting on what its 99th page reveals about the work as a whole.

Alongside this, Dr Adamson appeared on The 5 Best Films of Every Year Ever podcast, hosted by Tristan Ettleman (Arizona State University), to discuss his five favourite films from the year 1909: Slippery Jim, The Curtain Pole, Happy New Year!, The Two Gold Diggers, and Why Girls Leave Home. It is available from Spotify and Apple. Listeners can  also submit their own top five films for the year.
