New fiction from Lesley Glaister
Novelist Lesley Glaister's new book The Squeeze has just been published by Salt. Set between 1989 and the downfall of Ceaușescu, and 2013, The Squeeze travels between Edinburgh, Romania and Oslo as it follows the transactions of its two main characters: Marta, who was trafficked from Romania in the early 1990s and who is forced to work as a prostitute in Edinburgh, and Mats, a Norwegian businessman who longs only to be a good husband and father.
Told in a splintered narrative style that allows glimpses into several points of view,The Squeeze is an exploration into sex, money and above all the desire for love.
