Exhibition opens at Manchester Cathedral
This summer Dr Martha Baldon has been working with Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) as part of her IIF-funded impact project 'Leaving an Impression: Connecting the Medieval Period to the Present Day through Affective Touch'. Between April and August Dr Baldon and Anisha Minocha (a fourth-year student in the School of English) held a series of workshops with young people in care, care-leavers, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people supported by GMYN. Young people were invited to use medieval methods of ‘reading through feeling’ (Baldon, 2024) to create a series of altered texts and multimedia self portraits that explore different aspects of their selfhood and identity. An exhibition of the work created will run from 2 September 2025 until 15 September 2025 in Manchester Cathedral.
