Congrats, Hana!
Congratulations to postdoctoral researcher Hana Jurikova for winning The GeolSoc’s Lyell fund, awarded for “noteworthy published research in soft rock studies”. Hana’s nomination highlighted her multi-faceted research in pushing boron isotope based pH and CO2 reconstructions into the rock record. She has achieved this with a combination of culturing, analytical developments, Earth system modelling, and careful stratigraphic and paleontological work to identify high quality specimens spanning intervals of major interest in Earth History. This allowed her, among other achievements, to make the first reconstruction of major ocean acidification associated with the Permo-Triassic mass extinction.
