15th anniversary for CSRP
The School's Centre for the Study of Religion and Politics (CSRP) is 15 years old this autumn. To mark this milestone, the Centre is hosting a one-day conference on 21 September 2019.
The CSRP was founded by Prof. Mario Aguilar and a group of academics in the Schools of Divinity, International Relations, Modern Languages, and Philosophical and Anthropological Studies within the University of St Andrews. It was licensed in October 2004 under the patronage of Peruvian theologian Gustavo Gutiérrez, the 14th Dalai Lama, and Archbishop Desmond Mpilo Tutu. Prof. Aguilar continues to direct the Centre, with associate director Eric Stoddart.
Over the years the CSRP has stimulated research about religion and politics in a number of countries, including Tibet, Chile and recently India. A series of doctoral students have contributed work in many other fields.
The conference will gather patrons, members, donors, alumni and students of the CSRP at St. Mary’s College from 9am to 5pm followed by an evening formal dinner.
Organising committee: Dr Gordon T. Barclay, Dr Eve Parker, and Porsiana Beatrice.
