Summer Graduation 2024We were thrilled to welcome 2500 new graduates from 97 different countries to our alumni community during Graduation Week. Families and friends joined in the celebrations with the traditional garden parties in the marquee on Lower College Lawn.
Honorary Graduates included Armando Iannucci (the award-winning director of film-maker); the Rt Hon Helen Clark (Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1999 to 2008); cartoonist Alison Bechdel; internationally renowned performer and writer Joy Harjo; Professor Dame Muffy Calder (former Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland), and Air Vice-Marshall Ross Paterson.
You can read more about our Honorary Graduates and graduate stories here.
It was a pleasure to see so many of our newest alumni at the Development graduation photo booth, collecting souvenir print-outs and catching up at our Kaleidoscope Alumni Network courtyard receptions – complete with live jazz music – outside the Development Office at 91 North Street.
We also hosted cocktail parties and offered our popular StageClip service which allows graduates to opt in to receive a bespoke video clip of the moment they crossed the stage.
Our thanks to everyone who made this Summer Graduation such a memorable one!
Photographs from the celebrations are available to view via Facebook. |

Alumni WeekendSt Andrews alumni from around the world returned to the town for our annual Alumni Weekend celebrations. The varied programme of events offered opportunities to reconnect, raise a glass at Topping & Co Booksellers, tee off in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, listen to live music, and take a walk down to the harbour.
We also opened the doors to our Alumni Clubhouse in the Students’ Association, and guests attended the General Council Meeting, the University’s Public Meeting, a thanksgiving service in St Salvator’s Chapel, a superb guzheng and piano recital with the Kaleidoscope Alumni Network and a delicious barbecue.
In particular, it was a pleasure to host members of the Class of 1974 who attended Alumni Weekend to celebrate 50 years since they graduated.
We hope all who joined us this year enjoyed it has much as we did! |

Innovation in healthcare: a collaborative futureSt Andrews Innovation hosted an interactive workshop designed to bring together NHS Fife staff, University researchers, industry and community representatives, and members of our alumni community.
Alumnus Dr Roger Flint (BSc 2007), who attended the event, said: "The workshop explored key unmet needs in NHS healthcare, with stakeholders from academia, the NHS, innovation, medicine, industry, and the wider community sharing their unique perspectives. Building scalable, transformative solutions to these challenging unmet needs requires broad engagement from key stakeholders."
