Module description

The 30-credit Independent Research Project (IRP) may be taken by MA Combined Studies students who have completed pre-requisites in Art History. The IRP offers an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to undertake independent research in art history on a topic that is close to your individual interests. It consists of a 1000-word Literature Review and Sample Bibliography, and a 4000-word thesis (including footnotes but excluding bibliography) accompanied by images where appropriate. It is intended to provide evidence of your ability to perform self-directed academic research, and to bring to completion a self-formulated project. The IRP assesses your capacity to work independently, meaning (a) the topic is identified and formulated by you (b) you are answerable for structuring the shape of your account, and (c) you assume full responsibility for maintaining a timetable that enables you to complete assessments before the final deadline.
