The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. Module description

Building on Italian Intermediate 1 and in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Modern Languages, the emphasis of this module will be on the acquisition of communicative language competences (linguistic, sociolinguistic, and pragmatic) at B1 level through oral and written, productive, receptive, and mediating activities. Classes will be conceived according to a communicative approach and mixed-skills teaching. The activities proposed will include reading comprehension exercises and oral summaries of written texts, aural comprehension tasks, oral presentations, translation into the target language and reflection on translation strategies. Students will also be introduced to more advanced grammatical structures and topics and will expand their vocabulary knowledge in specific areas. Finally, students will engage with Italian literature and aspects of Italian culture through seminars on selected Italian literary texts.
