The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. Module description

The module provides students with essential knowledge of strategic theory and the history of strategic thought. It contributes to equipping students with an overview of the academic field of Strategic Studies, paying particular attention to the interaction between theory and practice, military doctrine and military science, as well as the enduring practical lessons of thinkers such as Machiavelli and Clausewitz. The module covers topics such as air bombing, naval warfare, nuclear deterrence, and recent technological developments related to cyberspace, unmanned systems, and artificial intelligence. It also helps students to acquire the necessary skills and techniques for independent further study of topics and questions in Strategic Studies.
