Module description
This module aims to map postcolonial and world literatures through a diverse range of texts drawn from across the globe and spanning the long-history of imperialism, from colonial encounters to contemporary global challenges in an era of world literature. Students will learn about the literary, theoretical, cultural, and historical dimensions of these two, interrelated, fields of study. Topics may include theories of postcolonial and world literatures; literatures of empire; decolonisation and post-independence; climate change; globalisation and literature; postcolonial theatre; literature and human rights.
