Module description
This module provides a comprehensive exploration of key leadership theories and practices. It ensures students have a solid foundation to prepare them for success in the programme, with an overview of leadership concepts, including the romance of leadership, dramaturgical and communicative approaches, and sense-making in extreme situations. The module also examines toxic and destructive leadership, contrasting these with authentic and ethical leadership, and addressing the roles of failure and ineffectiveness in leadership. Emotions and followership are explored, alongside with an overview of leading change and innovation in complex contexts, followed by a focus on leadership development. The module concludes with an exploration of emerging leadership theories, preparing students for future challenges in leadership roles and in the remainder of the programme.
