Module description

This module forms part of the vocational training that combines knowledge and skills development to prepare students for work in the heritage sector, building a range of practical and transferrable skills during an intensive period of work. A selection of projects based on current, sector-leading work will be offered to students. Projects will differ every year based on current interests and areas of research that Libraries and Museums are involved in – for example, provenance research, or visitor evaluation. Students will have the opportunity to engage with current issues in museums under the supervision of those currently working in the sector. This module is the culmination of the Museums, Heritage and Society online programme, and provides a practical pathway for students seeking a realistic experience of working within the cultural sector. Students will spend the equivalent of 40 x 8 hour days on an online placement (arranged in mutually agreed working pattern). Additional time will be spent writing their assessed outputs.
