This module explores life-writing theories and practices through a variety of recent autobiographical and autofictional texts written in French. Texts included in the corpus will prompt discussions on self-representation, childhood, trauma, memory, language, gender, education and identity in 20th and 21st century literature. Students will examine intermedial approaches to autobiography and will have the chance to practise life-writing techniques in creative writing workshops.
