SCOTCAT credits

The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) provides an indication of the complexity of award qualifications and associated learning and operates on an ascending numeric scale from Levels 1-12 with SCQF Level 10 equating to a Scottish undergraduate Honours degree.

Module description

This module aims to give a fundamental training at Honours level in written and aural comprehension skills, writing, oral and written fluency, individual and group work, and translation from English into French. It will consolidate and build upon the knowledge of French language and culture obtained at Sub-Honours level. It is intended as the basic practical language unit for all categories of students. This module may be replaced by Junior Honours second semester abroad at a partner institution. It may not be omitted for any other reason.
