The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

Module description

Leadership Beyond Sports is an accredited summer programme specifically designed for student athletes who want to boost their career trajectory as they transition from Higher Education into the workplace. It seamlessly blends cutting-edge theories of leadership with practical application to deliver a holistic, impactful experience.

Intended learning outcomes

  • Understand different approaches to leadership including directive, democratic, coaching, pacesetting, visionary and affiliative, building awareness of when and how to apply different styles through agile practice.
  • Develop and evidence leadership skills through real life opportunities with a focus on sport and social innovation.
  • Reflect on a personalised DiSC leadership profile and identify skills strengths for a changing world.
  • Engage in experiential learning to gain practical experience of real-world problem solving
  • Create and build an individual skills profile and development plan, and gain confidence in articulating this in an employer context.
