Module description
Building on the introduction to the essential grammar, morphology, and vocabulary of Koine Greek in DI5151, this module will introduce students to intermediate grammar and the reading of Koine literature, especially the New Testament and the Septuagint (LXX). At the end of this module, students will have competency in Koine Greek syntax and a larger range of vocabulary. The student will be able to progress to more advanced studies of the language with the ability to read and analyse the entire New Testament as well as texts from the LXX and other literature of the period. This module therefore provides the student with the most important tool needed for exegesis of Greek biblical texts, as well as a base from which to approach contemporary academic texts that seek to interpret this same literature.
