The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

Module description

This module offers students the opportunity to draw on the expertise of the Department of Russian in order to explore a topic of their choice in depth. Depending on staff availability, potential subjects of study include: the English Novel in Russia; Issues in Russian Cultural Memory; Narratology and the Short Story; Russian Crime Fiction; Russian Romantic Prose; Russian and Polish Modernism; Russian Formalism in context; the Soviet Writing Self; Socialist Realism Inside and Out; Andrei Platonov; Race and Ethnicity in Russian and Russophone Literature; Russian Literary Peripheries; and Russian Cinema in the Putin Era. Students taking the module as part of the MLitt in Modern Languages (Russian pathway) will be expected to complete readings in the original.
