SCOTCAT credits

The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) provides an indication of the complexity of award qualifications and associated learning and operates on an ascending numeric scale from Levels 1-12 with SCQF Level 10 equating to a Scottish undergraduate Honours degree.

Planned timetable

Part time - 1-hour lecture (if applicable - not all electives are delivered by lecture) and 1-hour tutorial per fortnight + advertised office hours plus online material.

Module description

This module gives students the opportunity to apply the conceptual and theoretical knowledge gained in other modules to selected areas of application reflecting where possible the students' own interests and needs. Students will cover the following topics in the 2018/2019 academic year: Critical Infrastructure Protection, Sexual Gender Based Violence, Terrorism Media and Culture, Right Wing Terrorism and Extremism, Terrorism and the Internet and Suicide Terrorism.
