Santander Scholarships is a new initiative designed to help current university students reach their full potential and strengthen their future career prospects. The programme supports students who demonstrate ambition, potential, and a commitment to making the most of their university experience.

The University of St Andrews is partnered with Santander to offer two £5,000 scholarships for academic year 2025-2026 through Santander Open Academy, providing meaningful financial support to help students succeed in higher education.

Eligibility

To be considered for these awards, you must be:

  • Aged 18+ and a UK resident
  • Enrolled full-time on a postgraduate course during the 2025–2026 academic year
  • Have Home Fee status

Preference will be given to Postgraduate Taught students. 

Selection Process

Applications will be shortlisted by the Santander assessment panel, with the final two awardees selected by a University of St Andrews panel.

The application process is external to the University. Follow the guidance below:

  1. Register for free on Santander Open Academy
  2. Verify your email
  3. Log in, click ‘Get Started’
  4. Complete the application form (including providing a valid student ID number and confirming the University of St Andrews as your current institution)
  5. Complete online assessment (This online assessment involves a series of questions to assess the skills and abilities of the applicants to select the scholarship winners)
