Scholarships and bursaries
St Andrews is committed to attracting the very best students, regardless of financial circumstances. The University offers a wide range of scholarships, bursaries and other funding opportunities to support applicants and students. These types of financial aid for education may be awarded based on financial need, academic excellence or other achievements, such as leadership, sport or music, and do not need to be repaid.
Our portfolio includes bursaries to reduce accommodation costs, international scholarships covering full or partial tuition fees, and funding for students from the UK to help supplement government sources and alleviate the financial burden of basic living costs. Applicants with refugee status, humanitarian protection, discretionary leave and asylum seeker status are encouraged to apply for financial support scholarships.
The scholarships available to you will depend on factors such as your chosen degree programme, where you currently live, your household income, your academic achievements, and your fee status.

Ulrike Wachter
DAAD scholarship, MSc Health Data Science
Studying the MSc in Health Data Science at the University of St Andrews has been an extraordinary experience, thanks to the DAAD scholarship. Both the unique academic setting and the vibrant student life are the two main reasons why I highly recommend pursuing a postgraduate degree here. The friendly and welcoming community makes it easy to meet people and form lasting connections and the support from the staff and professors is exceptional.
