Postgraduate loans

• Scotland

  The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS)  provide support for courses at Postgraduate Diploma and Masters level.

• England

  Student loans are available for UK nationals resident in England undertaking postgraduate Masters study anywhere in the UK. Full details are available on the Student Finance England website.

  The postgraduate loan contributes towards the costs of study (that is, it will be at the student’s discretion to use the loan towards fees, maintenance costs or other costs). The postgraduate load is non-means tested and paid directly to the student into a UK bank account.

   

• Wales

  Student loans are available for UK nationals resident in Wales undertaking postgraduate Masters study anywhere in the UK. Full details are available on the Student Finance Wales website.

  The postgraduate loan contributes towards the costs of study (that is, it will be at the student’s discretion to use the loan towards fees, maintenance costs or other costs). The postgraduate loan is non-means tested and paid directly to the student into a UK bank account.

   

• Northern Ireland

  Student loans are available for eligible Northern Ireland students undertaking postgraduate Masters study anywhere in the UK. Full details are available on the Student Finance Northern Ireland website.

  The tuition fee loan is non-means tested and will be paid directly to the university.

   

• USA

  The University of St Andrews is a Title IV accredited institution and is authorised to certify applications for both federal direct loans and alternative education (‘private’) loans. Full details are on the US funding web page.

• Doctoral loans

  Doctoral loans are available for UK nationals resident in England or Wales undertaking doctoral study anywhere in the UK. Full details are available on the Student Finance England and Student Finance Wales web pages.

  The doctoral loan contributes towards the costs of study (that is, it will be at the student’s discretion to use the loan towards fees, maintenance costs or other costs). This loan is non-means tested and paid in instalments directly to the student into a UK bank account.
