Testimonials
First Chances Fife students have shared their experiences with us, and their achievements after completing the programme, from moving on to undergraduate study at various universities to securing full-time employment.

Kate
I didn’t really consider university before First Chances because I wasn’t the ‘smartest’ at school. The ambassadors and staff on First Chances really helped me see how people from similar backgrounds to me could not only go to the university, but do well. I think even now, after graduating, I’m motivated to go out of my comfort zone because of the confidence given by First Chances Fife.
Kate studied at St Andrews RC High School and is now studying BSc (Hons) Neuroscience.

Mitchell
I have recently graduated with a first-class honours in Management. Through First Chances Fife, I was introduced to university life, subjects I became interested in learning more about, as well as gaining an insight into what student life might be like! I discovered that someone from my background could be welcomed into university, and ‘fit in’ to the culture. Through First Chances Fife, I developed in so many ways and had the confidence to achieve my goals! I was able to push myself to my limits, and I am proud to be the first person in my family to go to university.
Mitchell studied at Kirkcaldy High School, completed an MA (Hons) Management and he's currently working as an Admissions Representative.

Morgan
10 years on from my first year taking part in the First Chances Fife programme and I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today without it. From gaining insight into university life all the way to how to write an email and network – the professional and academic skills that First Chances Fife first opened my eyes to not only helped me graduate but has been hugely beneficial in the early stages of my career. The staff and students running the programme made every year that extra bit better too – and I am very thankful for having been able to be a part of it.
Morgan studied at St Andrews RC High School, completed an MA (Hons) Politics and Social Policy and secured a job as a Digital Engagement Lead.

Ross
First Chances Fife opened my eyes to university and gave me the confidence to leave my comfort zone and apply to places like St Andrews. I’ve had so many valuable experiences since then in terms of both work and study – I had an internship in Parliament, studied in the US, and now work in a field I’m really interested in. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t been part of the programme, which opened the door to opportunities for me.
Ross studied at Auchmuty High School, completed an MA (Hons) International Relations and Management and is now working as a Policy Advisor.
