• P7 workshops

  Two in-school workshops delivered by University of St Andrews staff to introduce Primary 7 pupils to the idea of education beyond school and explore what it means to be a student.  

  Discover University 

  This workshop introduces pupils to the concept of higher education. In this interactive session, pupils will explore what university is, and why people attend, and will learn about the differences between school and university.  

  Student Suitcase  

  This follow-up workshop gives pupils an insight into what it is like to be a university student.

  • Describe the difference between school and university  

• S1 workshops

  Two in-school workshops continue to develop the idea of university life as pupils move into secondary education.

  This programme is designed to demystify higher education and dispel common misconceptions.  

  University Myth Buster 

  This workshop addresses common myths and misconceptions about university. Pupils will have the chance to meet university students and gain a real insight into what it's like to be at university. 

  Student Society Challenge 

  During this workshop, pupils will explore different university societies and then have the chance to design their own University Society. At the end of the session, pupils will present their ideas to the class and then take a vote as to which society they would like to join.

  Workshop outcomes  

  • Share facts about university and explain what a student society is
  • Feel confident that university could be an option for pupils
  • Understand the benefits of joining a student society and confidently promote an idea 

• S2 workshop: Student Society Challenge

  Two in-school workshops designed to help pupils develop ideas around differing elements of student life, in turn building confidence in the knowledge of higher education.

  Design your university  

  This workshop helps pupils explore different areas that make up a university and feel confident presenting their ideas to each other.  

  Bossing your student budget 

  This workshop helps pupils understand how to create a budget when at university and the benefits of doing so.  

  Workshop outcomes

  • Work in teams to create, to discuss, and create new ideas
  • Present ideas and produce word to a group
  • Gather a better understanding of life at university
