Course information
AI tools are increasingly part of the research landscape but how do they actually work, and when should you use them? This session gives you a grounding in how AI and GenAI work in a variety of literature searching applications, equips you to critically assess tools and their limitations, and introduces a range of options you can apply to your own literature searching.
The class will take place in the Teaching Room on Level 1 of the Main Library, North Street.
Aims and objectives
- Understand the fundamental concepts grounding how AI and GenAI work in literature searching applications
- Be able to critically assess AI tools to make informed decisions when it is appropriate to use an AI tool and mitigate any limitations to the tool
- Appreciate the breadth of tools available, and which ones can be applied to function of literature searching
