Course information

If you are thinking of applying for Senior Fellowship (Advance HE) , the Head of Educational Development, Dr Heather McKiggan-Fee (SFHEA) will briefly explain what is required for a successful application, such as the nature of the practice and the evidence required. Each participant will then have a chance to discuss their own circumstances to determine when would be an appropriate time for them to apply (eg it may be better to wait and spend some time collecting evidence first).

Please read the Professional Standards Framework 2023 in advance of this session.

To be awarded Senior Fellowship, individuals must evidence that their effective and inclusive practice meets the following three Descriptor 3 criteria statements:

  • D3.1 a sustained record of leading or influencing the practice of those who teach and/or support high quality learning.
  • D3.2 practice that is effective, inclusive and integrates all Dimensions.
  • D3.3 practice that extends significantly beyond direct teaching and/or direct support for learning.

Aims and objectives

By the end of this session, you should have a clearer idea of how to evidence the criteria for Senior Fellowship, and the time it could take to prepare a successful application.
