PLEASE NOTE: This is an in-person event. For those unable to make it, an online Postgraduate Researcher Welcome event will take place on the the 1st od June 2026. You are not required to attend both online and in person events. The same information will be repeated at each event so you only need to sign up to one


This In-person Postgraduate Researcher Induction and Essentials will give new research postgraduate students the opportunity to meet some of the staff who are there to support you throughout your degree, ask questions about aspects of policy, procedures, and support available, as well as to meet and get to know some other new students.

A panel of staff from across the University who provide help and support to research postgraduates will be available to answer questions, such as:

  • Provost and Associate Provosts
  • Research Integrity
  • Registry
  • Postgraduate Student Representatives 
  • Centre for Educational Enhancement and Development  (CEED)
  • Careers Centre
  • Student Advice and Support (ASC)
  • Academic English Service (AES)
  • University Chaplain
  • Academic Liaison Librarian
  • Engagement with Research
  • Pure (research information system) and Open Access

The event will open with a welcome from the Provost and some information from key members of staff. You will then be broken into small groups and given the opportunity to hear from support staff across the University. After an introduction from each speaker, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
