Course information

PLEASE NOTE: This is an online event aimed at those unable to attend events on campus. In-person Postgraduate Welcome event will take place on the 17th of November 2025. You are not required to attend both online and in person events. The same information will be repeated at each event so you only need to sign up to one

This online Postgraduate Welcome will give new postgraduate students the opportunity to meet some of the staff who are there to support you throughout your degree, ask questions about aspects of policy, procedures, and support available, as well as to meet and get to know some other new students.

A panel of staff from across the University who provide help and support to research postgraduates will be available to answer questions, such as:

  • Provost and Associate Provosts
  • Research Integrity
  • Registry
  • Postgraduate Student Representatives
  • Centre for Educational Enhancement and Development  (CEED)
  • Careers Centre
  • Student Advice and Support (ASC)
  • Academic English Service (AES)
  • University Chaplain
  • Academic Liaison Librarian
  • Engagement with Research
  • Pure (research information system) and Open Access

The event will open with a welcome from the Provost and some information from key members of staff. You will then be broken into small groups and given the opportunity to hear from support staff across the University. After an introduction from each speaker, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
