Alexander Gordon came from Brusst or Banff in Scotland and moved to Bergen in Norway c.1630. He was made a burgess cooper on 16 February 1631 and at some point married Elizabeth Vernton, possibly a daughter of Gilbert Wentoun. With her had three children, Gilbert, Alexander and Lisbeth. Alexander died some time before 1683. From the Sollied Archive, the following valuations are attributed to Alexander Gordon: 1645, 15 Rode (90) hus og ildhus 350 daler (198); 1657 14 Rode (60) hus, grand formue [total fortune] 800 daler; 1683 og 1686 bor enken i [his widow loved on] 14 Rode (168 or 146)
