In 1618 Robert, youngest brother of Thomas[SSNE 3827] and John [SSNE 3825] came to Russia with Sir Dudly Diggs [SSNE 3958] and a recommendation to the Tsar from King James VI and I of Great Britain. He was travelling with several Scots and English on a Stuart diplomatic mission led by Diggs. He went back soon but reappeared in 1628 and probably fought in the Smolensk war.S Konovalov Oxford Slavonic Papers, Vol.2, 1951; G. P.
