A "Lerdt" Kinnaird was in Swedish service. He was a captain in David Drummond's [SSNE 2396] regiment from 1637-8. He may have been one Alexander, son of James Kinnaird [SSNE 1124] who was born in 1618 and later became a merchant in Gothenburg in 1666. He married Magdalena Kleinschmidt on 21 April 1650 and they had 8 children, 4 of whom were buried between 1656 and 1673. Magdalena died and was buried on 6 March 1698 at Christina church in Gothenburg. In 1667 he was godparent to Gabriel Spalding's [SSNE 4816] son Herman; in 1674 he was godparent to Henry Braunjohan's (husband of Anna Spalding [SSNE])daughter - along with William Spalding and Anna Lindsay. He was godparent to commissioner Hans Gerdes' daughter in 1682, along with Gustav Maclean [SSNE 4690] and Johan Spalding's [SSNE 4205] wife. In 1684 Alexander was godparent to Daniel Crockat's [SSNE 6424] son, along with Johan Maclean and Maccabeus Thornton [SSNE 6120]; and he was also godparent to Gabriel Spalding's son along with Johan Maclean. Alexander was godparent to Gustav Fistulator's daughter in 1685. Alexander died at the age of 70 and 3 months in 1688 and was buried on 16 September that year. Thanks to Mr Harry Kinnaird for providing this information. He was probably related to William Kinnaird [SSNE 7229].
