Lt James King was the son of John King [SSNE 1628], who was the brother of General James King[SSNE 2814]. James served as a page to king Charles X and as a lieutenant in the Lifeguard. Their is a note of his having been beaten by the town guard in 1664 presumably in Stockholm town. He was ennobled and introduced into the Swedish Nobility in 1672 along with his brother Henry [SSNE 4789]. He died in 1676 in battle at Kristianstad against Denmark.Stockholm Krigsarkivet, Muster Roll, 1664/1 'AHR SLAGEN AF STADZVAGTEN'; Svenska Adelns Attartavlor, vol. 4, p.126; Old-Lore Miscellany of Orkney, Shetland, Caithness and Sutherland, vol.5, pp.166; H.
