Text source
David Duncan was a lieutenant in Anders Planting Bergloos recruited cavalry regiment in Sweden in 1666. By 1668 he joined K G Wrangel's cavalry lifregiment along with his brother Lieutenant Colonel James Duncan. The Duncan brothers left Swedish service to join Danish in the early 1670s. David became a captain with colonel Lutcken's infantry in 1675 in Denmark but went absent without leave the following year. Perhaps because his brother was major general he escaped serious punishment. He served in Norway with his brother from 1678 onwards and died by 1705. David Duncan was married to Eleonora Margrete von Kulhen/Kahler, the widow of Colonel Esaias Reincking. They had two sons, Jacob and David, and an unnamed daughterSwedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1666/2; 1668/9; O.
