BOWIE, JOHN [SSNE 242]
Text source
John Bowie (Buidhe?) appears to have been one of the Scots recruited for Swedish service in 1611 who formed part of the ill-fated Kringen expedition. These soldiers and their entourage were attacked and many killed by local farmers, and those who survived were taken into Danish-Norwegian military serviceT.
