Edward Adams worked as a harpist. He was appointed to Danish service on 3/5/1641 (from Easter 1641). Before that date he worked at the courts of Poland and Brandenburg. On leaving Danish royal service in May 1643 he initially sought an appointment at Prince Christian's court, but the prince declared himself without the means to employ him (Ubi summemus panem in deserto". Adams was then again engaged by the Elector of Brandenburg in the Spring-Summer of 1643.
