Ludovick Sinclair was the legal son of Sir William Sinclair of Roslin. He spent a great deal of his life in military service with Sweden, Denmark and Poland where, in July 1664, he stated that he intended to remain. However, it appears he became a lieutenant with Anders Planting-Bergloos' recruited cavalry regiment in 1666 in Sweden. He transferred to K G Wrangel's lifregiment cavalry in 1668. He was lieutenant in Henrik von Dellwig's infantry regiment in 1669. He was captain in Duke August Fredrik of Holstein-Eutin's recruited infantry regiment in 1675. He later served as a Captain of Horse in General Duncan's regiment in Danish-Norwegian service and was killed at the siege of Halmstad in August 1676. It is possible that this is the same man as [SSNE 335], thought the regiment and date of death are different.
