ID PhD Research and Travel Fund - European Association of Social Psychology
Sunniva Davies-Rommetveit, PhD student from the School of Psychology and Neuroscience (and Graduate School Associate Fellow), attended and presented at the European Association of Social Psychology (EASP) General Meeting.
Sunniva spoke of the invaluable opportunity "The Interdisciplinary PhD Research & Travel Award helped to fund my travel to the 2026 European Association of Social Psychology General Meeting, which took place in the city of Strasbourg in July 2026. Held every three years and attended by interdisciplinary researchers in the fields of social psychology and political science, among other disciplines, the EASP GM included research about democratic backsliding, political and affective polarization and how protest repression impacts on future disruptive collective action. Attending the EASP 2026 GM allowed me to present interdisciplinary research from my first PhD chapter. This research investigated the impacts of state repression on future climate activism and involved a cross-disciplinary team of researchers. Presenting at and attending the 4-day GM and the 1-day pre-conference enabled me to meet researchers from a wide range of disciplines and to learn about the many methodologies used to tackle complex research questions. In sum, the funding from the Interdisciplinary PhD Research and Travel Fund provided me with an invaluable opportunity to meet with leading experts tackling a range of complex, interdisciplinary topics and to engage with the latest developments in my research area. Many thanks go to the Graduate School for all of its support."
