ID PhD Research and Travel Fund - International Conference on Bayesian Nonparametrics

28 July 2025

Hanyu Wang, a third-year PhD student in Statistics, attended the fourteenth International Conference on Bayesian Nonparametrics (BNP 14) at UCLA, which was funded by the Graduate School's Interdisciplinary PhD Research and Travel Fund. This conference allowed Hanyu to present his research on clustering analysis using Bayesian Mixture Models within a Divide-and-Conquer framework, which enhances computational efficiency for large datasets. He engaged with researchers on similar topics and highlighted the growing importance of Bayesian methods in clinical medicine, as seen in collaborations with the FDA.

Hanyu noted "I am deeply grateful for the funding support provided by the Graduate School, which enabled me to attend this conference in Los Angeles. I sincerely hope this program will continue, allowing more PGR students in need to receive support for their early-career academic research activities".
