Old Burgh School

Old Burgh School is the home of the Graduate School and available to all St Andrews postgraduate students. In addition to desks allocated to PhD and commuter students, there are desks available for ad hoc use by any postgraduate student. If you are looking for a quiet place to study, feel free to visit.

The building has informal spaces (and a picnic area at the garden at the back) where all postgraduate students can relax, have lunch or a drink, and socialise with colleagues.

There is free coffee and tea, fresh fruit every Monday, a kitchen with microwaves to prepare a quick meal, and vending machines with snacks and fancy hot drinks.

There are also bookable rooms for independent and group study, presentations, meetings and workshops – you can book directly via the online room booking system (tip: type OBS at the search field at the top-right, to see all available rooms in the building).

All postgraduate students have automatic access to the building from 8.00am to 9.00pm, seven days a week. PG students with allocated desks in Old Burgh School have wider access.

Old Burgh School is in Abbey Walk, St Andrews KY16 9LB. You can view its location in the map.
