Alexander Arratt served as an assessor of taxes in Denmark in 1627. He paid taxes in 1628 and 1637 and lived in 1648 in a house rented from Anders Jensen of Varberg. Arratt was appointed captain in the navy on 6/5/1639 with effect from 30/3/1639 and remained in service until 1650. He was again mentioned in service in 1653. He was apparently in private service with Hans Mattisen in 1652. Had a claim of 915 rixdollars 10 sk. to Margaret Erskine's estate on 1/3/1641 and one of 3 rixdollars to James Black's estate on 22/2/1650 (still not paid 9/4/1652). Arratt became a defendant in a lawsuit for the Admiralty in 1647 concerning debt. He was dead by 15/8/1654 when his estate was sealed during the plague. His wife Johanne Ross must have died at the same time. Their estate was assessed on 2/10/1655. Their children Marrette and Margrete (Mariota and Margaret?) were among Mester Jacob Gronnevold's heirs.T. Riis, Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot (Odense, 1988), II, p.209.
