Jacob Jørgen (Georg) Mackenzie was the son of Colonel Jost (George) Mackenzie [SSNE 19] and his wife Margrethe. He served first as an ensign in lieutenant colonel Judelsbach's squadron of dragoons from May 1644 until June 1645. That year he was also a lieutenant captain in the Statholder's life regiment of cavalry. He was in receipt of a salary from December 1646 until July 1647, perhaps in Colonel Reichwein's regiment. Statholder Sehested made reference to both Mackenzie and the colonel in November 1646 stating that Mackenzie was to be treated as other officers. From May 1647 he was a captain in the Trondheim infantry, and also chief of the Smalenske company. On 1 March 1652 King Frederik III of Denmark-Norway accepted Mackenzie's request for departure from the Trondheim regiment and ordered that he should be replaced by Captain Seyer Christensson. The king further appointed Mackenzie to exercise the men in Tønsberg len, for which duty he would receive 12 Danish shillings from each farm annually. In 1657-8 he was a captain in the Oppland infantry regiment and chief of the S. Hedemarkske company. He left service in January 1658 and by July 1662 he had died
