BREYS, JAN [SSNE 7949]
Text source
John Brys was a sailor serving under Captain Corstiaen Eldertsz and wrote his will shortly before they embarked for Denmark. He left half of his possessions to his landlord and his wife, Ritchard Valckenier and Maertge Andriesdr. The other half he left to his previous master, John Mitsel, who was a smith in "Eert" (Ayr?) in Scotland. He appears to have served alongside another Scot from "Eert," Robert Logan [SSNE 7950], on the same ship and the two both named Valckenier their landlord.
