James Feif was enrolled at Uppsala university in 1696. He was the son of David [SSNE 4931], and the brother of Henry [SSNE 2430], and was baptised in Nicolai Kyrka on 10 June 1679. His uncle was also called Henry [SSNE 7276] and was a Stockholm goldsmith. James lived from 1679-1736 and became a merchant in Stockholm, and later a member of the Riksdag. He had a son, also called Jacob.
