Text source

Henry Fife was a son of David Fife [SSNE 708]. He lived from 1635-1694 and had a brother, David [SSNE 4931]. Henry was a goldsmith in Stockholm and became a burgess on 31 March 1669 and later became alderman for the goldsmiths. He had a son called Solomon [SSNE 731] who like his father was also a goldsmith in Stockholm. In 1694, when the burgesses wanted to be privy to how taxes were recorded, the Magistrates of the city tried to appease them by appointing deputies for the burgesses who would have access to future "suppliker" and financial matters. They included various merchants, tradesmen, artisans, including 2 aldermen – Hindrich Feif and the large-scale baker J. Kammecker were among them.
