This was the son of James Elzener in Mounie, Daviot parish, and consort Marjorie Douglas. John was admitted burgess of Malmo as a draper 1566, and sold cloth for the army's use in war 1563-70. He was associated with Alexander Dun, in the cloth trade to Norway and elsewhere c.1580; He had business relations with Northern Germany and had a stall at the Aalborg Whitsun fair 1592.
