Knud Andersson Smith was the son of Andrew Lawrenceson Smith [SSNE 6799] and Maren Knudsdatter. He was born in the late 17th century in Sola, Haaland near Stavanger and he worked, like his father, as an artist. He apparently spent some time in Scotland. He had a brother Lauritz [SSNE 6800], a successful businessman.
